December WTI crude is trading at $98.78 a barrel, about 0.29% above the $98.49 strike, with only a few hours left before the October 21 settlement. Attacks in the Strait of Hormuz have tightened the physical market: Iran's Revolutionary Guards reported mines halting tankers, freight costs have jumped, and a private survey showed a 4.93-million-barrel US crude draw against a much smaller forecast. Prices have traded above the strike through much of the overnight session, reaching $99.09, though the prior settlement came in near $97.82. Persistent Hormuz disruption and drawing inventories make a settle above $98.49 favored.
