December 2026 WTI is trading near 99.80 USD/Bbl, about 1.8% above the 97.99 strike, with only hours left before the October 20 settlement.
The contract settled at 98.54 on October 19 after touching a 99.71 session high, so it is already sitting on the right side of the threshold. Tight physical balances support it: on-land global stocks are at their lowest since at least 2016, the IEA sees the market in deficit through year-end, and Persian Gulf exports have collapsed amid repeated tanker incidents and attacks on Saudi energy targets. Easing Russian-energy restrictions and accelerated emergency-stock releases are the main offsets. A December settlement above 97.99 is likely.
