Sep 26 forecast

Pakistan has launched two strike waves within one week amid an unresolved conflict, so another qualifying strike by October 31 is highly likely.

The recent strike tempo, earlier operations, and another claimed TTP attack inside Pakistan all point toward renewed retaliation. Mediation and willingness to talk offer a real off-ramp, but the earlier ceasefire did not settle the underlying sanctuary dispute. Border shelling, ground clashes, and threats alone would not count, yet another qualifying Pakistani strike by the deadline is highly likely.

Points to YES

Pakistan has demonstrated both the capability and willingness to conduct repeated air and drone attacks across Afghanistan.
On September 24, Pakistan carried out precision aerial and drone strikes at 10 locations across Afghanistan.
Cross-border strikes have recurred after pauses rather than remaining isolated episodes.
Pakistan conducted two rounds of strikes against targets in Afghanistan during June 2026.
A fresh TTP-claimed attack inside Pakistan increases pressure for another military response.
On September 26, at least 11 people were killed and 30 injured in Dera Ismail Khan, and the TTP claimed responsibility.

Points to NO

Active regional mediation gives both governments a channel for stopping the current escalation.
On September 24, China, Türkiye, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia were engaged in mediation efforts threatened by the escalation.
