Active indirect talks and the short remaining window favor restraint, so the U.S.-Iran ceasefire continuing through October 15 is likely.

Negotiations remain incomplete, military threats persist, and the previous pause collapsed quickly. Still, active mediation, reported diplomatic progress, recovering Hormuz traffic, and the short remaining window make continued restraint more likely than a qualifying U.S. strike.

Points to YES

Indirect negotiations are producing limited but tangible progress toward a nonmilitary resolution.
On September 28, an official reported positive signals from both the United States and Iran, while another reported slight progress during the preceding weekend.
The sides largely agree on necessary steps, leaving their sequence as the principal reported obstacle.
On September 30, an official briefed on the talks said the United States and Iran largely agreed on the required steps but still disputed their sequence.
Recovering commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz reduces immediate pressure for renewed escalation.
By September 30, crude-oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were approaching prewar levels.

Points to NO

The United States continues to preserve the option of renewed strikes against Iran.
On September 27, President Donald Trump said he had not ruled out further U.S. strikes on Iran before the November midterm elections.
The previous U.S.-Iran pause failed quickly, showing that negotiated restraint remains fragile.
The United States and Iran resumed strikes shortly after signing the June 18 memorandum of understanding.
